A strong start, Rachel won the British Final in the BMC Youth Climbing Series just two years after pulling on her first crimp. Shortly after, she then became the captain of the British bouldering team. Although proficient in the competition scene, Rachel has now decided to focus her efforts on outdoor climbing. She has sent multiple 7C boulders, but perhaps her most notable achievement is her send of Caroline 7C+ in Rocklands with a sprained ankle, just before the final day of her trip.

‘I have found that climbing takes you
to some incredible places all over the world I would not have otherwise
visited. I also love the inclusivity off the sport, anyone of any age and ability
can succeed in climbing no matter what.’

Rachel’s favourite place to boulder in the world is Fontainebleau and finds time between her training and coaching to get out a few times a year and practice her french. Rachel loves being spontaneous, deep water soloing, experimenting with different hair colours and attempting to be on UK Ninja Warrior. Watch this space.

‘There’s always new ways to push myself and improve. Even when I’m not
trying my hardest grades, I can still have fun doing easy circuits. The
community has to be a big part as well, everyone is so friendly whether
they know you or not.’

Rachel’s training secret:

Find a good woody board and fall in love with it.

Goals for 2018:
Rachel has her sights set on an 8A boulder.
