3rd Rock is passionate about more than clothing.
Firmly passionate about recycling and sourcing organic materials, 3rd Rock is proud to say our clothing is made with our impact in mind. Founder Jessica Mor personally ventured to India to investigate how organic and regular cotton fields work in order to make the best decision about which fabrics are most environmentally friendly.25% of the world's pesticides are used to grow non-organic cotton - that's a heck of a lot of chemicals!
These chemicals are extremely dangerous and have caused the death of thousands of cotton farmers and their families. One single drop of Aldicarb (a pesticide used on cotton in 26 countries) absorbed on the skin can kill an adult. Imagine the consequences to the groundwater and natural ecosystems.
But how do they keep the bugs away? Simple: cotton curry.
Instead of unnatural toxic chemicals, organic farmers spray a curried mixture of cow’s urine, chilli and garlic onto the leaves of the plants. Insects threatening the plants fly in the opposite direct when this mixture is on the cotton. The plants can grow properly and strong. It’s as easy as that.
We can't do everything, but we believe in doing our part.
Sincerely,
The 3rd Rock Team.
