Be is a British climber, coach, co-founder of a climbing wall and the Climbing Out of Depression charity who has dedicated most of her life to the climbing community. Climbing trees since before she can remember, it wasn’t until Be was into her teens that she found her passion for rock climbing.

‘I was not a naturally gifted climber and other than being fairly strong from years of hauling myself around trees it took a lot of work for me to learn how to climb ‘properly’. This journey helped me develop as a coach and as a climber and after a short period of competing I decided to focus on coaching after my degree. I have since become a GB coach and have worked with world class athletes helping them achieve their dreams!’

Be took her climbing into the competition arena and also put it to use when appearing on Ninja Warrior UK! After graduating from her degree Be became a GB Climbing coach and has worked with a host of World class athletes to achieve their dreams.

Despite competition climbing taking a back seat to allow her to focus on coaching, Be has always maintained a tenacity and drive to excel in the outdoor arena; continually pushing herself to improve. An attitude that is transferred to whatever her focus is at the time, from yoga and surfing to kick boxing and running; it is this attitude that keeps Be focussed on her goals to climb an 8a boulder and lead 8b in the (near) future.

"I think the climbing community is pretty amazing and a unique one for many reasons but there is still a comparatively narrow field of people enjoying it! I would love for everyone to know that climbing is for everyone and it is my mission to broaden this wonderful climbing community we are so lucky to be a part of."

Driven by her passion and belief that climbing is beneficial for our mental as well as physical health, Be set up the registered charity Climbing Out of Depression; an outreach scheme that is soon to take referrals from mental health charities to provide 1:1 tuition to introduce participants to the benefits of not just climbing, but the community too.
