As we enter for 2026, a year of endless possibility, we've revisited the things that get us the most hyped for adventure!

Let my people surf by Yvon Chouinard

The book that started it all for us. Our founder, Jess, picked up this book back in 2009. Once she put it down again she was so inspired by Yvon Chouinard's words that she pursued her own dream... and 3RD ROCK was born!

The Salt Path by Raynor Winn

A story of love, struggle, perserverance and healing in nature. The Salt Path inspires us that even in the hardest moments, taking a step outside and embracing nature can not only hit you with some healthy dopamine, but can heal in ways you wouldn't expect.

Endurance by Alfred Lansing

The legendary story for Ernest Shackleton's 1914 expedition to Antarctica - a battle of perserverance, survival and importantly teamwork and the love for this crew... is there any better inspiration for exploration and adventure than this?  

The Secret Surfer by Iain Gately

A surf/travel memoir following Iain Gately, a man who let life get away from him and realises he's never acheived his goal of surfing a tube/getting barelled/threading the needle. So he embarks on the quest to relearn surfing whilst journeying around the UK (and sometimes Europe) all in the pursuit of that one perfect barell.  

More of a movie-goer than a bookworm? Don't worry we have a few of those too!

If you're wanting to get cosy on the sofa with snacks and get invested into a movie, look no further for some awesome recommendations! (Don't worry no spoilers!)

Into the Wild

A true story following a man who gets rid of everything he owns to adventure North in America. No money, only the belongings he can fit in a backpack. This is a story of self discovery as well as exploration. (This is also a book but the movie is just 🤌). Watch the trailer here.

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

Not a true story, but dang is it an awesome feel good movie full of beautiful scenes and inspiring adventure! Watch the trailier here.

Wild

Another story about healing in nature, this one is sure to make you wanna fill your hiking pack and get outdoors. Watch the trailer here.

Expedition Happiness

More of a documentary, this story follows a couple and their dog who convert an american school bus into a home and travel from Alaska to Argentina. Watch the trailer here.
